Pretty Woman (Megan's Choice)

I knew that this promise would backfire one day I had no idea though that it would happen so soon, two weeks in and Megan has decided that I shall be reviewing...I really don't know how to say this but Pretty Woman. I really don't mean to offend anyone out there who likes this movie or Julia Roberts or even Richard Gere but all three really do annoy me, I don't really like Julia Roberts as an actress or Richard Gere as an actor, but I have to be good here I have to review this movie with the objective to show all you good folks what this movie is and how I feel about it.

So here goes. We start with our main man Edward Lewis (played by Gere) who is a successful businessman while driving around Hollywood Boulevard he stops to ask for directions where he meets Vivian Ward (played by Julia Roberts) who turns out to be a prostitute. Edward invites her to his hotel where he asks her to stay with him for a week as an escort, and gives her $3000 and his credit card telling her to go and get a dress. Vivian goes into the first shop where she is shunned and told that they don't want her business, the hotel manager then helps her buy a dress and teaches her proper dinner etiquette. Edward is amazed by her and takes her to his business dinner which ends up ending successfully but Edward ignores her afterwards. Vivian tells Edward about the shop humiliating her and they go on a shopping spree before returning to that shop which she then mocks for not accepting her business. The next day they go to a polo match in which one of Edwards business partners and begins to chat with him, he thinks she is a spy but Edward tells him that she is a prostitute and the friend becomes more pressing towards her. When they return to the hotel she is angry with Edward for telling the guy about her and threatens to leave, he apologizes and she stays. The two then go to the Opera in which she enjoys herself more than expected, when the return the make love in a personal capacity instead of professional. Edward, now in love, offers to buy her a place but she refuses and feels hurt that he would treat her that way. Edward attempts to finalise his deal but cannot get her out of his mind and in the end rushes back to her and they kiss and the movie ends.

Storyline: I have to admit the story works well as much as I have seen it in every romantic movie man meets woman, they fall in love, man screws it up, woman takes man back, they live happily ever after. It is a bit of a stale move but it works and people come back for more every time not just other women either.

Cast: I really can't stand these two in any role and this is no exception and I don't know why I just feel that they both seem so insincere about their roles and it makes me feel bad to watch them acting in this, they seem like they don't really like each other through the movie but are being forced together.

Genre: Romantic, as I said before I have seen the plot before in all other romantic films but it works and I can't really fault it for that.

Overall: I personally wouldn't watch it again and I would only watch it with my fiance in the first place. I do honestly feel it could have been a good movie if the acting had been a little better and I really don't like purely romantic movies they need to have a bit of comedy. One for the girlie's to watch but guys you may want to be careful.

I believe I said that it had some good points, but as a guy reviewing what is essentially a girls film, it isn't worth the watch. Although if it was a choice between this and The Notebook then I would pick this.

If you think about it this movie was one of the first movies where it wasn't rich girl meet poor boy. For its time it was a classic because and for that it should have a better review.

She is a prostitute, he is a successful businessman classic rich boy meets poor girl which doesn't change a lot. For it's time this was poular but I am reviewing it now and I feel it doesn't deserve the credit

I am not saying that some people think it is a good movie, but I'm not a part of that cult following, I don't like it that is my opinion I write these hubs to express my opinion you may have your own and I respect that but I will not change my review based on someone elses viewpoint
